From Days Gone By

From Days Gone By explores the places in St. Pölten where I spent a lot of time during my childhood. These were places where we played a lot, whether it was football, flying kites, riding the merry-go-round, or sledding. There was always a lot going on at that time.

Because the photographs now only show traces of the playgrounds, I wanted to draw attention to the rural exodus of people from my generation. The contrast between my vivid memories and the desolate surroundings of today is brought into focus.

To emphasize the element and span of time even more strongly, I decided to create photograms of my hands in the darkroom while simultaneously making photographic prints. In doing so, I wanted to bring out more strongly the tactile sensation that I remember so vividly from that time.
